Buyer’s remorse
Casey Logan
Casey Logan’s “Shopping in Sin” is a photographic essay documenting a visit by the artist in 2007 to an estate sale, where the personal effects of a recently deceased man were being sold in his own home. Logan’s images highlight the uneasy mixture of commerce and death that underlies this ritual, and suggest the usually suppressed element of guilt felt by bargain hunters as they rummage through collections of once significant objects that have been reduced to bargain-basement tchotchkes.
Casey Logan is an artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.
